Irving Plaza

17 Irving Place (c/o 15th Street & Irving Place), close to Union Square - Irving Plaza is a decent NYC venue to watch bands. Well organised and fairly initimate black painted old theater style (no seating) - upstairs has a circle with VIP section. Watch out for some very decent bands.

Southpaw
125 Fifth Ave, Park Slope, Park Slope, Brooklyn - A good gig venue in laid back part of Brooklyn.
There are some great bands and acts that play here. Look out for what's going on there at their website. At times, expect a rather subdued crowd, as the New Yorkers like to appreciate their music sober.
