Prune = Bloody Mary haven
The world "prune" no longer has a negative connotation for me. It has been permanently replaced with thoughts of the most delicious bloody marys in all of NYC (Chicago+) and unique dishes made with non-traditional combinations (chickpea stew with poached eggs), served in tight yet friendly quarters. The dinners are very nice with an enticing cocktail list and a need to be open minded about the unusual offerings on the small menu. But it is the brunch (despite the long waits - no reservation policy) that really draws this bloody mary fanatic over and over again to Prune. (54 East 1st Street).
